“It is always easier to carry what you heard is true about another, rather than asking the person if what you heard about them is true.” But what is right? In this case right is not the easy route. If it is important enough to you, go and ask the person before you believe what is being said about them. In the ministry some of the scariest words I hear are, “I heard.” The better question is, “what did YOU see?” Someone else’s experiences are usually twisted to “their” favor. Hearsay turns the multitudes against what is right. That dreadful day in Jerusalem it was just some select voices who swayed the multitude against the Son of God. Those who never broke bread with Him. Those who never journeyed with Him. Those who never took the time to get to know Him. The unsaved swayed the multitude. Many of men and women have been destroyed by the devil using the same tactics. Hearsay. There was a time in my life that I turned against people based off of what I “heard” about them. I had to fix that. Yes certain things will cause me to be more attentive, but until I ”see” it. I don’t completely receive it. If we reject hearsay, it protects you and it protects me, as it safeguards our God given influence. The devil attacks Gods mouthpiece, but he also attacks the ears of the would be recipients of Gods mouthpiece.
