Prov. 12:22 “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who deal truthfully are His delight”
The truth is always the best way. We share the truth of God’s word and don’t change it. Our words are not deceitful and full of mistruths. God knows our hearts anyway, so why would we lie to Him and to others?
God will always judge the fool that lies to benefit himself. An abomination will never be overlooked. We ought to be careful that we don’t exaggerate stuff (that one is especially hard for preachers) or tell what people call “white lies” to benefit ourselves and cover up something. Those are the only steps to further lying. Eventually, you will hit a stone wall, and people will find you. If you fool everyone, God knows who we are, and He is a God of truth, not falsehood.
Don’t pretend to be someone you are not. Don’t lie and think you can get away with it. God always knows, God always reveals, and God always deals with it. Consider David and the cover-up of his sin with Bathsheba, for example.
Live in the fresh air of God’s truth, and don’t be phony. If God delights in that, think of the blessings that are coming your way. It is certainly better in the long run than covering up something that eventually will be revealed.
