GETTING "PLUGGED IN"
"Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go, and say unto thee, Here we are?" (Job 38:35)
The implied answer is, "No, Job, you cannot do that, but I can." That is, God can send lightnings that will go and complete a mission for Him.
I believe the ministry of the word is much like this. Lightning contains much power and energy, and so does the word of God (Heb. 4:12). In fact, a sinner cannot be born again without the power of God's word (I Pet. 1:23).
Every Christian should think of himself as a spiritual electrician for the kingdom of God. The Father's business (Luke 2:49) is that of a spiritual powerhouse that offers eternal life to all who will receive it. We are God's "electrical workers" who run the power lines into all parts of this dark and dying world so that "whosoever will" may PLUG-IN to Jesus Christ and receive eternal life. Every time you witness to someone, every time you pass a tract, every time you get the word of God across to someone, you are placing before them an electrical outlet that they can plug into. They might or might not choose to plug in, but you have brought God's current to them. They are now without excuse, if they refuse to plug-in to Christ, because, like God's powerful lightning from Job 38, you have made your trip and said to the sinner, "Here we are!"
