California - Call to Action Hearing set for April 26 at 1:30pm for ACA 9, Superintendent of Public Instruction: gubernatorial appointment. This measure would prohibit an election for the California Superintendent of Public Instruction from being held in 2026. The measure would, commencing January 1, 2027, require the Superintendent to instead be appointed by, and serve at the pleasure of, the Governor, with confirmation by the Assembly, the Senate, and the Senate Committee on Rules. * CA Superintendent of Public Instruction should remain a non-partisan elected executive officer of the California Department of Education. * The Superintendent should serve kids and NOT partisan politics.
