"And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you." (Matthew 28:5-7)The morning after the Sabbath, the women came to the tomb where Jesus was laid to anoint His body with perfumes. An angel had rolled the stone away from the entrance of the tomb. The stone was not rolled away to let Jesus out, but so that they could go in and see that Jesus was not there. The messenger greeted them with the common angelic greeting, "Fear ye not." When those beloved folks in Scripture encountered the supernatural forces of God, they almost always gave this salutation for their sake. Jesus will say the same thing again when He greets the women shortly after this. Then the declaration of the ages was made. "He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." The women were invited in to see for themselves, as if the words of the angel were not sufficient.Folks, think about those founders of all these false religions that make much of tradition and little of Truth. Where are those Disciples of Denial? Where are those Followers of Falsehood? Where are those Leaders with Lying tongues? Where are they at now? I'll tell you exactly where those phonies are. Their bodies are rotting away in a grave or a tomb somewhere never again to be seen until Death and Hell spew forth their victims to stand before God in judgment at that Great White Throne (Revelation 20:11-15).Ah, but that borrowed tomb could not hold the Captain of our salvation: The Lord Jesus Christ. Death could not hold Him tight in its greedy grasp. His sacrifice for our sins was accepted by the Father, and He defeated death itself. The saying had been fulfilled, "I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes." (Hosea 13:14) Paul declared, "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" (1 Corinthians 15:55)Jesus is the firstfruits from among the dead. He rose and ascended to God as a sign that we will do the same. He did not conquer death for Himself alone, but for all who will believe and trust in Him. The resurrection has been scrutinized and attacked more than any other Bible doctrine, because it makes or breaks Christianity. If Jesus is not raised, we are still in our sins and our faith is in vain (1Corinthians 15:17). But if it is true, and it is, our eternity hinges upon our relationship with the Redeemer sent from Heaven.Yes, those dear women who sought for Jesus that day, saw Him a little later. If you have sought for Jesus as your Saviour, then one golden day, like those women, you too will see Him as He is!Friend, is your eternity secure? Are you sure you will be a part of the great harvest? If not, I urge you to place your faith and hope in Jesus Christ right now! If you are sure, then thank Him for all He willingly went through and won for you and then live your life in the light of His Victory.
