Can people find their way home to heaven from your church?
"If I be lifted up, I'll draw all people to me" John 12:32
Author Anne Lamott talks about a 7-year-old girl lost in a big city. The girl frantically ran up and down several streets, looking for a familiar landmark. A policeman saw the girl, realized something was wrong, and offered to help. So, she got in the car, and he slowly drove through nearby neighborhoods. Suddenly the girl pointed to a church and asked the policeman to let her out. She assured him, “This is my church; I can always find my way home from here.”
We must ask if people can find their way to heaven from our church. God forbid we would keep them out of heaven as Jesus accused the Pharisees of doing.
Our churches should be busy helping people find their way home to heaven. We should make it easy and not difficult. There are so many lost and don't know it. Let's point them in the right direction. Let's make sure our church is a landmark pointing people to their future heavenly home.
