I Pet. 2:24 "He in Himself bore our sins in His own body so that we might die to sin & live unto righteousness, for by His wounds we are healed.”
The death of Christ was like none other. A perfect man took what we, as sinful, imperfect people deserve: that is the condemnation for being sinners. It was one divine moment Jesus accomplished on the cross what we would never be able to do. I Pet. 3:18, “He just died in the place of the unjust to bring us to God,” saving and delivering us from sin’s punishment. He was the only one able to do it because He was without sin dying for sinners. He assumed responsibility for the payment we all owe to God. We are thus bought by the price of His bloodshed in our place. I Pet.: 18-19. If we don’t trust in Christ, we assume the payment for our sin: death, Hell, and judgment for all eternity. So we trust in He who has accepted the payment for our sins, or we assume that responsibility ourselves. God’s plan of salvation for us is simple: turning to the cross in repentance, accepting the payment Jesus made for us, & then following Him because now His life becomes ours to live for His glory.
