The Unfailing Promise of God's Never-Ending Love
Romans 8: 38 “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
To understand how God will never forsake the true believer in Christ, we need to understand what separates us from someone who is not saved.
Sin, unbelief, skepticism, peer pressure, Satan's schemes, pre-conceived notions, lies about God, following an ungodly crowd, and doing ungodly things are just some of the reasons people are separated from God today. They are roadblocks and real reasons people do not listen to the truth of God's Word and trust in the most important event of their lives in accepting Christ as Saviour.
God, however, is rich in mercy and keeps reaching out. When we come to Christ and place saving faith in His work for us, we have a relationship with God that cannot be separated from Him. Everything is opened up like a car on a freeway. You have access to God and a union with Him that is inseparable. We have a relationship with Him that combines everything Paul talks about here.
It is God's protective care that, like the sun, never stops shining on us. In fact, if you are truly saved, He won't leave you alone. His convicting power against sin and assurance of His presence will be real and you will know you are a child of God.
A little boy was flying a high kite behind a low-lying cloud. An older man said. "What did you get their son? He responded, "A kite." The man said, "But how do I know it’s a kite? You can't see it." The boy said, "Mister, I can't see it, but I can feel the tug." So it is with God. He will use all sorts of things: His Word, fellow believers, experiences, assurance, and many other things to give you an abundance of His unfailing love too. Hear His voice and sense His tug. Never give up!
