"How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!" (Psalm 139:17)I'm sure that we Bible believers know folks who don't think very kindly of us, and I can't help but wonder, if they had their way, they'd try to get their thoughts about you, and I printed in the evening paper. Oh well, you can't be everybody's cup of tea, can you? Ah, but the Psalmist here published a wonderful truth concerning our ever-mindful God, "How precious also are thy thoughts unto me," You could go and purchase the best, most accurate adding machine that was ever manufactured, punch the numbers on it, and still not be able to add up and find the total of God's precious thoughts about us. Why? Because the rest of that same verse declares, "O God! how great is the sum of them!" Talk about count your blessings, how about trying to add up God's precious thoughts about you. Both are indeed precious! The omniscience mind of God takes pleasure in noting the very existence of His children and no one escapes His watchful eye. He's always thinking about us because we are constantly on His mind. Why, even as He sits on His Throne at this very moment, His heart is thinking kindness towards you while you're reading this because all His thoughts are precious.Yes folks, He has nothing but good thoughts about each of us. The Lord had good thoughts about us even before the foundation of the world, because even way back then, He knew that we would be precious to Him and ever on His mind.We were on His mind when He gazed upon His Beloved Son in the manger. "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." (Luke 2:11)We were on His mind when He forsook His Son that day when He took our sin, bag and baggage, and laid them upon Christ while He hung on that middle cross at Calvary. "Lord, remember me." (Luke 23:42)We were on His mind when that old, borrowed tomb could hold our Saviour no longer. "...according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead," (1 Peter 1:3b)We were on His mind when Jesus ascended from Mount Olivet to sit down on the right Hand of God. ""...this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." (Acts 1:11b)We were on His mind when the Holy Spirit inspired the Book of Books that helps us remember just how dear and precious we are to Him. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" (2 Timothy 3:16)We are on His mind when we pray, "...seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them." (Hebrews 7:25b)We will be on His mind when Heaven's Trump sounds, whether we're in the ground or on the ground, to be caught up to ever be with the Lord. "Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." (1 Thessalonians 4:17)Who cares then if some God-denying fool has thoughts about you and I that are wicked and profane? Who cares then when a bunch of worldly-minded snobs turn up their noses and call us filthy names? Who cares then when any angry enemy of Christ makes fun of us?Well, I know one thing; I certainly don't care, because I can rejoice with the Psalmist over what my Lord thinks about me, "How precious also are thy thoughts unto ME, O God!" Take that ME and make it YOU, and you'll never wonder or worry again about what God thinks you who have trusted Jesus Christ for salvation from sin.Friends, how wonderful, how wonderful indeed to know that His thoughts toward us at this very moment and beyond are peaceful and precious!
