If your desire is to have the qualities listed in 5:22-23, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, then you know that Holy Spirit is leading you. At the same time, be careful not to confuse your subjective feelings with Holy Spirit’s leading. Being led by Holy Spirit involves the desire to hear, the readiness to obey God’s Word and the sensitivity to discern between your feelings and his promptings. Live each day controlled and guided by Holy Spirit. Then the words of Christ will be in your mind, the love of Christ will be behind your actions, and the power of Christ will help you control your selfish desires. --- Life Application Study Bible notes PRAYER Heavenly Father, Thank you for calling me to live by Your grace. Help me leave the worldly desires behind and instead, fill my heart with Your desires. Thank you for working in me and giving me Your strength. Grant me wisdom to say “Yes” to the things that honor You and “No” to the things that are evil, corrupt and wicked no matter how alluring or how pervasive they may be in our culture. May my words and my actions be pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, Amen
