"With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him." (Psalm 89:21)Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play Major League Baseball. Leading the way in breaking Baseball's color barrier, he faced jeering crowds in every stadium. While playing one day in his home stadium in Brooklyn, he committed an error. The fans began to ridicule him. As he stood at second base humiliated with the fans booing; legendary Hall of Fame shortstop Pee Wee Reese came over to him, shook his hand, and put his arm around Jackie's shoulder. The entire stadium went quiet with hardly a hush.Years later, Robinson confessed, "I was ready to quit Baseball that day, but then added, when Pee Wee Reese put his hand in mine, along with his arm around my shoulder, it saved my career as well as my life. It established within my heart that someone really cared and strengthened my desire to be the best person I could be, not only on, but off the Baseball field." Friends, the mighty hand of God is ever ready to establish those who have erred in life and who are being mocked and jeered because of it. You may be ready to pack it in, but wait, God's strong arm around your shoulder brings strength to you when you're ready to give up and quit.
