What does God say about the Bible? These verses put together give a nice, brief overview.2 Peter 1:20-21 KJVKnowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. In this verse the word 'private' is the translation of the greek word idios. It means "ones own" idea or interpretation. It sounds like the english word idiot. You can't just make up a meaning or you look like an idiot. You have to let the words which make up the whole word of God fit together with meaning, accuracy and integrity. [21] For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJVAll scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: [17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. Here are a few points.1. No private interpretation, its Gods words.2. It is not man's word.3. It is "profitable" for: -Right teaching -Reproof when we blow. it. -Correction when we get off base.4. Instruction in right living5. So that we are given what we need to do good works.
