"By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days." (Hebrews 11:29-30)In verse 29, we read 'BY FAITH', the children of Israel were shuffling along through the Red Sea on dry ground and then watched their enemies who were chasing them drown. Let's not stop there, because we happen upon something rather interesting. For we find in verse 30, 'BY FAITH', they stormed the city of Jericho and saw the walls come a tumbling down. Now wait a minute, where's all that nasty stuff that took place in between those two verses that they were guilty of for some 40 years? How come there's no record between those verses here of their doubting God which got them in a heap of trouble in the first place? Where's the report on everything they constantly complained about? How about all their murmurings against Moses? Hey, where's the list of all their other filthy sins? That's the dirt everyone enjoys reading about! Lord, we'd like to know where all that stuff is.Well, the Lord tells us where all that stuff went in Hebrews 8:12, "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more." And just in case we missed it because we're so prone to forget, He tells us again in Hebrews 10:17, "And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more." Aren't you glad God remembers to forget? When they said, we will rebel no more, God said alright, I will remember no more. Friends, far too many Christians have spent much of their life thinking about their past failures instead of trusting in God's promises of forgiveness. Whenever any person places their trust in Jesus Christ BY FAITH, God responds BY FORGIVING. And folks, that right there is the wonderful undeserved Grace of God that's extended to any and all.
