"The Man Who Was Like Jesus"Every so often I read something that grips my soul, and it happened again last evening. I came across a essay on being authentically Christlike, and the author used his employer as an example. This is what he wrote:"Never once did I see him tear down another person. Not to their face, or on the Internet, or through gossip. Rather he worked at assuming the good in people. He explained that being forgiven and affirmed by Jesus frees us to do this—to "catch people doing good" instead of looking for things to criticize or be offended by. Even when someone had done wrong he responded with restraint and self-reflection. Like Jesus, he covered people's flaws and sins. Sometimes he covered my flaws and sins. He did this because that's what grace does. He believed that of all people Christians should be zealous to restore reputations rather than destroying reputations, to protect a good name instead of calling someone a name, to shut down gossip versus feeding gossip, to restore broken relationships as opposed to writing them off."I’m sure you can understand why this testimony pierced my soul. This relationship, consisting of 40-plus hours a week involving all kinds of pressure and stress, spanned forty years, and at the end of it, the writer has nothing but high praise for this man. Can you imagine living the kind of life where the people who know you best have nothing but high praise for you? Jesus was God in the flesh, and this man was Jesus in the flesh. How I wish I could start my life over again. I would do it so much better, maybe even to the level of this guy.
