The Effect of What Jesus EnduredIsa. 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes, we are healed. Jesus' death in our place produced immense suffering that led to what we need to be right with God.His Wounds were for our rebellion against God. Sin causes hurt and heartache. He experienced the tragic effect of what it does to us.The beating He received was because of the brutality of sin. Notably, Jesus' scars were visible in his resurrection appearances and in heaven around the throne with the redeemed. The punishment Jesus endured was to bring peace to God and us. His suffering brought about our reconciliation with God when God gave us His peace Col. 1:21.The marks of His brutality by scourging bring about healing for the sickness of sin. How hideous it appears to others, but it became a healing balm for the disease of sin.Every aspect of what Jesus endured was for our benefit, on our behalf, and what God used to make us right with Him when we fully trust in Christ, our Saviour. His death was meant to be the only way we can have our sins forgiven through what He endured for us. May we never take His sacrifice for us for granted--- Dan Nelson
