"And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD," (Exodus 14:13a)See the people standing there on the banks of the Red Sea. Former slaves of Egypt and future servants for Israel were found in this crowd. Some were greedy and others were givers. Some were gossipers and others were gentle. Some were fearful and others were faithful. One would have to search high and low for a more varied bunch than these folks. But these were God's people. A people He delighted in, a people He had delivered, and a people He was planning to direct.Pharoah's army stood ready to ensnare them from the rear. The Red Sea stood ready to engulf them up ahead. No where to run. No where to hide. What will they do? What would become of this new- found freedom they had recently experienced from the Hand of God? Then, the answer is given. "Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD" are the words that stream forth from the lips of God's man. Those same words then are as sure and secure for you and I today as they were when they were first uttered!! Those same words carry the crown of a command. Those are the words that every blood-bought, born-again, blessed hope believer is to abide by.Now, that old roaring lion likes to sneak up and whisper to each of us, "Go on in your own steps, go on in your old sin, go in our own strength. You can do it by yourself. You don't need any help to fight the battles that plague you." But the Word of God, like a trumpet sounding for battle, declares our victory cry, "STAND STILL, AND SEE THE SALVATION OF THE LORD.God is looking for such a people today, as He was in Moses' day, who have learned that the Battle is the LORD'S and not ours, people who have learned that God will fight for them, and for people who know how to, "Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD." Is He looking your way?Friends, the posture of an upright person is someone who is ready for action, ready for further instructions from Heaven, and ready to stand fast in faith no matter what comes their way.
