Presuming on God gets you into a lot of Trouble.
Judges 16: 20,
" He knew not that the Lord had departed from him."
After Samson blabbed about his strength to Deliah and got a haircut, he got up to knock some heads together and reap havoc on his enemies, the Philistines, like he did every time before. It didn't matter that he lost his locks; God had always bailed him out. But He didn't do it this time. He was handled easily like a weakling. He presumed God, and God didn't rescue him.
Instead, he allowed Samson to be captured, blinded, put to work on the grist mill, and get totally humiliated. That’s the way it always is when we presume on God and think just because I mess up, that God will fix things for us.
But Paul says, "The pot doesn't tell the potter why you made me this way." We will fail if we don't depend on God all the days of our life and walk humbly before Him. God will not be taken for granted. Samson did so, blew his opportunity to deliver Israel, and got trapped by immorality and loose lips that "sunk his ship."
The lesson is clear. Walk before the Lord with faithfulness and obedience to His word. Trust in the Lord to answer your prayers as you come humbly to Him and totally depend on Him. If we presume, we are going down, and God is the lifter of our heads. He doesn't bring us down; we do by playing loose and fast with sin and presuming God owes us something when He doesn't. Instead, we owe Him our obedience if He blesses our lives.
