The Strong Delusion that Leads People to Destruction
II Thess. 2:11
“And for this reason, God will send them strong delusion that they would believe a lie”
You may try to travel over a washed-out bridge and think you are all right while ignoring warning signs. Your good intentions will not save you from plunging to destruction, however. Rom. 6:23 says, "The wages of sin is death." The Bible teaches the wages of unforgiven, unrepentant sin is Hell Rev. 20:15. God hasn't changed the Bible to suit the sensibilities of the 21st Century.
One of the early American primers taught the alphabet, corresponding to a scripture verse. The reason for this early Puritan primer was clear: "So that the old deluder Satan would not deceive them and get them to believe a lie." That is exactly what is happening today. Satan is exchanging the truth of God for a lie, and people are falling for it, hook, line, and sinker. These 3 areas lead to delusion in many places:
Salvation-
If Satan can get you to believe in a false plan of salvation and another gospel, he has achieved his greatest victory. He has caused you to miss heaven and have your eternal soul dammed to Hell. Have you trusted in Christ's eternal work on the cross on your behalf? You don't get to choose how to be saved. You can choose whether you will be saved by what God offers you. There is a way that may seem right to a man, but the end thereof is the way of death Prov. 16:25.
Morality-
It has not changed in this day of loose depravity being tossed to and fro by the media, in our schools, and even in our families You can think we will change with the culture, but you will run into God's Word, which will judge your sin. You won't win! Accept what God says is sin, what is right and wrong, and for your own survival.
The church-
The church is not TV, a denomination, a universal, invisible entity. You don't get to pick what you want the church to be. The church is an assembly of baptized believers in the Lord Jesus Christ joined together for the fellowship of the gospel. We can substitute all day long with new definitions of what we want it to be. But almost every usage in the New Testament is of a gathered assembly of believers who have testified to their faith by believer's baptism.
Take the truth serum of God's Word, and don't believe the devil's lies; your eternal soul depends on it. Don't be fooled!
