One expressed the sentiment of all the men when he said, “This is ridiculous. Look at the large offering we have given to the evangelist, and just one little boy was saved. What a waste!” When the observation was voiced, one of the deacons stood up and said, “Gentlemen, if you think it is too much, I personally will return every man’s gift. For that one little boy who was saved is my son.” How does one write down in dollars and cents what God does with our gifts when He turns them into souls, into the preaching of the gospel, into the distribution of the Word of the Lord, into the ministry of the saints, and into the winning of the lost? May God sanctify and hallow the dedication of our lives, our homes, and our children to the blessed Jesus. May God receive the gift not only of what we possess, but also of what we are. May He write in His book in heaven the gift that we make to Him of our hearts and our lives!
