Topic.... Christian maturity, a change in Godly character as you mature.Jacob/Israel gave a deathbed blessing to his boys and says this in particular about Levi and Simeon...Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations.6 O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel....Genesis 49:5-7Malachi says Levi matured... And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts. My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name. The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity. For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts”....Malachi 2:4-7Is this the same Levi??Yes....We all change, We all have things in our lives we wish to God we could do over, I know I most certainly do.Levi changed into a great Man of God but Jacob did’nt live long enough to see that.Clearly Jacob was speaking through the flesh and what he saw at the time.Centuries later we find Levi matured into an awesome man of God.The way God thinks is NOT the way we think... “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. ...Isaiah 55:8-9Levi turned out to be truly a righteous man and I’m sure feared God above many. But some never change....Judah never matured....He married a Canninite woman...Judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah.2 And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite, whose name was Shuah; and he took her, and went in unto her....Genesis 38:1-2Centuries later Malachi writes...Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god....Malachi 2:11
