"For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." (Romans 15:4)
Every day, I absolutely enjoy reading my Bible and spending time with so many of my dear friends on those pages, simply because, we have so much in common. Folks like Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Job, David, Elijah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, John the Baptist, Peter, Stephen, and John on the isle of Patmos. There are those godly women like Ruth, Esther, Elizabeth, and Mary. There are also many others too numerous to mention. But of course, the Lord Jesus is my favorite of all, and He should be yours as well.
They're in Heaven now, but the lessons I've learned over the years from them, with all of the ups and downs of life they encountered, have given me the promise that I too can experience God's Hand of protection and provision at every turn.
Aren't you glad we have such a Book that's jammed pack with folks just like you and me who lived long before us and yet, are there for us offering advice? What wisdom they showed during those times of decision. What a witness they were to others. What a willingness they possessed to follow the will of God wherever it led them.
Friends, isn't God wonderful in the way He recorded the lives of some folks who lived their life as examples to help people like us as we travel along on that straight and narrow road? Yes, He is indeed wonderful beyond words!
