"So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me." (Ezekiel 3:14) We read that Ezekiel was bitter and angry, but not with God. Those 10 words, "but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me", certainly gives us proof to that fact. So why was Ezekiel beside himself? When we read the first 13 verses of this 3rd chapter, and the entire Book for that matter, we see exactly why. The Prophet was bitter and angry at the sins and attitudes of the people. Before the exile, the people had heard Jeremiah, but sad to say, they would not listen. Ezekiel had a similar message which was rejected as well. Yet, he remained strong and obedient to the faith and the fight and wasn't overwhelmed with feelings and fears. He had Heaven at his side and the Lord's Will and His Word kept this man going for God. He never gave in or gave up but continued to give out the message from the LORD.We live in such a time these days, don't we? We go about here and there witnessing the Gospel message and people either SHUN us, make FUN of us, or RUN from us. They prefer their sin over the Saviour. They'd rather have lasciviousness instead of liberty. They clamor for and want their rights as citizens instead of claiming and wearing the righteousness of Christ.Ezekiel stayed the course because he knew that what he proclaimed was of the LORD. As the Spirit lifted Ezekiel up and as the Hand of the LORD strengthened the prophet of old, we too shall be lifted up and be strengthened for the work He has planned for us.Friends, you and I are the ones to tell the other ones who stand in desperate need of hearing the Good News. Let's continue to stay obedient to the opportunities God gives us, never weary in our witness for Christ, and always true to the Truth of the Scriptures. For with God's Power and Presence, we are on the winning side.
