PUNCHING HOLES IN THE DARKNESS Philippians 2:14-16 says, “Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom YE SHINE AS LIGHTS IN THE WORLD; Holding forth the WORD OF LIFE; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.” He didn’t tell us to look for a boogie man behind every tree and terrorize the body of Christ in this dark and doomed world. He told us to SHINE as lights as we hold forth the WORD OF LIFE. He didn’t say to hold forth the latest anti-government spook story that you found on the Internet. He said to shine and hold forth the word of life, which is the word of God. Hand out some tracts, witness, speak words of wisdom to people and show them what a real Christian is, and when you do that you will be doing plenty, and you will be increasing the value of America in the eyes of God. I like what the old London street lamplighter told the young boy when he was asked what he was doing. He said, “Son, I’m punching holes in the darkness.” Making it easier for lost souls to see their way to Christ is the highest and most honorable work going on anywhere in this world. Daniel 12:3 says, “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” When God thought about sparing Sodom and Gomorrah, he didn’t ask Abraham how many militia groups do they have down there, how many NRA members do they have, or who is on the election ballot. He wanted to know how many RIGHTEOUS SOULS were in the city, and we are told that He would have spared the city for only ten souls (Gen. 18:32). You want to save America? Give God a REASON to save America. Hold forth the word of life and turn on some lights by teaching people to live righteously! Proclaim God's truth and increase the number of righteous people in this land, and then we might have a shot at survival.
