Most People are Unprepared for JudgmentLuke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.27 They did eat, drank, married wives, and were given in marriage until the day that Noe entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.Any Bible student will know that the Last Days refers to the time from the Holy Spirit empowering the church on the day of Pentecost till today. Christ coming back again in judgment was foretold by Him even before He went to the cross. It was if He were saying, "When I die and rise again, that is not the end but the beginning of God's redemptive plan."The Signs of the 2nd Coming of Christ are meant so that every generation would look upon the return of Christ as imminent. Some of the signs Jesus referred to in His Olivet discourse dealt with the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem and the scattering of the Jews into the world. Others deal with that time just before Christ returns. One of the striking signs Jesus referenced was a time as in the Days of Noah. The conditions of that day could be replicated in the generation before Christ's return. We know that the scripture says in those days, men's hearts were continually evil. We know the Days of Noah were ones of violence and war. They were days of Moral Depravity.Jesus also shared about the days of Lot in this same passage and the deep slide into lust toward one another of same-sex in which the Bible says is immoral and unnatural. We also know that they were days of a breakdown in family structure. We see this so much today with divorce and people living together without shame. All these signs are emblematic of the Days of Noah, but they are not the greatest sign. The greatest sign will be that people are unprepared for God's Judgment. People scoffed at Noah building the ark and were made to eat their words when the flood came but they could not save themselves. Most people, Jesus said, will be going on with their lives just like any age. They will go through their lives and marry, eat, drink, and subsist. But despite their lives being lived without any acknowledgment of God, there will be a swift and sudden judgment when Christ returns. That Judgment will totally disrupt their lives, ushering them into an eternal realm many didn't believe. You don't have time for the church, God, His word, or the gospel. You will be consumed with all that one day when Jesus returns, and it will be too late to repent. You can go on like God does not exist and suddenly, everything will change. 911 is an example of being unprepared for catastrophe.Anyone without a personal relationship with Christ is unprepared for the 2nd coming of Christ. We must not let Christ's return catch us unaware. May we read the signs of the time, get in the church, and go to work for the Lord so the Return of Christ will be our Glorious Hope Titus 2:13.
