Get Out of Jail FreePs. 142: 7 “Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise your name” We’ve got a crucial problem now with criminals getting out of jail on free bail and killing people. It is happening all over, and people are living in fear. Yet, many are still in a spiritual prison and are not only down in the dumps, but their soul is also imprisoned.Jesus came to open the door to freedom of the spirit. In his fulfillment of Isa. 61:1 in Lk 4:18, Jesus said one of his attributes in coming to earth was “to set the captive free.” People may not be behind bars but life is condemned already without Jesus John 3:18. The wonderful news is that Jesus has opened the door to eternal life with Him in heaven and continual fellowship with God by His once for all sacrifice for our sins. In Rev. 1:18, it says He has the keys to death and Hell. “Death cannot keep its prey, but He tore the bars away.” Jesus has opened up paradise for you if you will only trust Him as Saviour.Then we can praise God as His child when we take advantage of the open door to forgiveness and eternal life Jesus gives. Yet, there is a self-imprisonment that only praising God can release us from. Paul and Silas in Acts 16 found that out in a physical jail, beaten and battered for the gospel; they started praising God and he delivered them.Do you need deliverance today? Look to the Lord and He will bring you out of jail by His work on our behalf on the cross. He will put a song in your heart that will rise above any downtrodden trials you may have. Start praising Him now as a believer and He will bring you out of any difficulty you may have through other believers, His Word, and His presence.
