How often we hear of a man dying soon after he retires because he has so little to do! Nothing destroys the fiber of a person’s life like feeling useless and unwanted, having nothing to do and no purpose in life. Though many of the elderly and invalid feel they have no purpose, God has given them a ministry of intercession and prayer. They can pray for their pastors and Christian workers. I have never heard a sweeter word than what Spurgeon once said to a humble disciple, “My friend, some day when you have the ear of the great King, will you call my name?”
