"And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee." (Psalm 9:10)Have you ever noticed how companies like to go hog wild with all kinds of advertisements in an attempt to gain our trust in their products? Whether it be an appliance, a computer, a TV, a vehicle, or a stick of furniture, they want the consumer to feel at ease with their words of DEPENDABILITY about the product and its usage for the many years ahead that we'll have it.After their little memorized spiel, what's the next thing that takes place? Why, they'll pour it on trying to sell us an extended warranty covering that product. Hey, what happened to that DEPENDABILITY stuff you just fed me? Well, I don't know what you think, but I think a lot of companies don't have any idea what dependability means. You know folks, being trust-worthy and dependable is not an easy thing to come by these days in which we live is it? And why is that? Because we have been conditioned over the years to expect the worst from major companies and yes, even people who go back on their word or lie through their teeth. People don't trust strangers because they DON'T know them very well. Sometimes, they don't even trust their friends because they DO know them very well. But as time goes by when they learn more about them, that trust either goes or grows. However, the more we learn about God, the more we are convinced that He and He alone can be trusted and depended upon. We can trust whatever He says to be reliable and dependable because He has proven Himself. His laws for us are unchangeable, His love toward us is unconditional, and His labor in us unmeasurable. This old world offers us nothing but a bunch of empty promises. But God; God offers us Himself. He's gone to great lengths in giving us a letter from Heaven bearing His heart, His help, His hopes, and a prepared home for you and me.Now, if we know the Lord by name, and have trusted and are depending on Him with our eternal need, then why can't we trust and depend on Him for our everyday needs? If you have been one that has struggled along these lines, then let me freely offer you a guarantee in 12 simple one syllable words from the above verse, "And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee."Yes friends, the Lord is always dependable because He can always be trusted!
