Joshua 5: 12, “And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna anymore; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.”For 40 years the Israelites were spoon fed so to speak with manna. It was probably the longest continuous diet of the same thing ever. It worked, though, keeping them alive without any MacDonald’s or Wendy’s around. It is significant that when they reached Canaan, the manna stooped, and now they were to live off the fruit of the land. There is a time when we need to stop being spoon-fed by God and make our own way. I don’t mean we stop depending on God. We always need to do that. But we need to be self-starters and, after faithful service, start reaping the fruits of our labor in people we have influenced or in character that is steadfast toward God and His word.It was a long time to be fed manna. But God always came through. In Canaan, however, God finally kicked them out of the nest the way a mother bird would. If we are to live off the fruit of the land, we need to be sowing the seed to see fruit come after all our labor. For many, it may mean stopping depending on others and starting depending on God. Whatever it is, God doesn’t mean for us to be spoon-fed forever (especially for 40 years). Isn’t it time we changed our diet and started living off the fruits of our labor instead of having someone else feed us? The choice is up to you. Does God trust you enough to send you out and bring forth fruit for you labor: I hope so!--- Dan Nelson
