The How is More Important than the When of the Second ComingLuke 21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to pass, look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption, draweth nigh.We are barely into the new year, but we know one thing about the new year. We are that much closer to the return of Christ to earth. The subject of the 2nd Coming has prompted much speculation regarding the date of His return. We don't know the exact date of Christ's return. Anyone who says they know is not telling the truth.We can, however, look at the signs of Christ's return and ascertain how He will return. That is far more important. For it is the blessed hope of believers. It also helps us to know exactly how this event will take place.We know this:It will be a visible return of Christ to the earth seen by the entire world. Matt. 24:27He is coming in the clouds, in the same manner, He ascended into heaven. Rev. 1:7, Acts. 1:11He is coming in flaming fire with vengeance on unbelievers. I Thess. 1:7-9He is coming to bring the earth to full redemption after judging it. Lk. 21:27-28.He is coming with the saints and for the saints (all believers) to exist in His worldwide kingdom is heaven and earth. Rev. 21:1-5, II Pet. 3: 13.His coming will spell the end of all war, pestilence, famine, disasters, sin, and the work of evil. Rom. 8:19-23There are still various interpretations as to the time span of events at His return. But the above-mentioned facts are bedrock truths that we ought to center our hearts and minds on as our comfort and hope that far supersedes anything this world has to offer. This should give us extra motivation to live for the Lord in this New Year. II Pet. 3:11-12.Thanks be to God though we serve a God who is eternal and whom time is far less important to Him as it is to us. --- Dan Nelson
