Mission impossible?
This is your mission, should you choose to accept it!
"But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:15)
How do we accomplish this feat? Fear not, it is not beyond our abilities. We have difficulty only because submission to God is not yet our will. But when we come to the place that we desire Him more than anything this world has to offer, we will resolve to do what He asks of us. Obey God!
Did He not say, "If you love me, keep my commandments." (John 14:15) And then He proceeded to show us how to walk in the way, the truth, and the life.
"He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked." (1 John 2:6)
is it difficult to keep Torah, like Christ did? No, not if you have submitted to Him!
"For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome." (1 John 5:3)
When we are finished struggling with this and simply do it, we will discover the love of God, that we have never known before, and grace will abound.
This is a picture of what is meant by Love your neighbor as yourself. And this is the sort of thing that brings blessings. And Loving God is expressed by obeying His Word and the keeping of His Commandments.
Just as he said, “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” (John 14:21)
Thus, the relationship begins to take root.
“Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse: the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you today; and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known." (Deuteronomy 11:26-28)
Apparently, God knows we can do this, and He is willing to Help us to do so. He would never expect us to do the impossible. He would have never given us the commandments and sent His Son into this world had He thought we would just ignore His efforts to bring us into Holiness.
For His expectation is clear, He created us, and brought us into this world.
We must be Holy simply because He is our Father, and therefore, Like Father like Son. We are a chip off of the old block.
Loud and clear, Christ calls us to do exactly that, to walk according to God’s will. He says, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21)
Then He tells us where we have turned left instead of right. He mocks us saying, “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’” (Matthew 7:22)
Then He tells us how this way of seeking God is foolishness. He says, “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” (Matthew 7:23)
How foolish we have been to reject the Way, the Truth, and the Life. simply because we think we know better than our creator? He doesn’t know us, because we haven’t believed or followed our Savior. We simply have no love for Him, or the Father. Therefore, we have rejected the source of our own salvation.
Our mission is not impossible, but is very do-able. We just haven’t accepted the mission.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. (Hosea 4:6)
Scoff if you want, but the Holy Spirit knows that I have poured out for you the truth. Accept your mission!
