Reasoning with God about our need for HimIsa. 1:18 " Come now and let us reason together saith the Lord. Though your sins be as scarlet they shall be as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson they shall be as wool."How God sees us will determine our eternal home and our relationship with Him. Without Christ, we are in our sin and will face God without being forgiven of our sin. If we trust in Christ and are born-again because of our faith and trust in His redemptive work on the cross in our behalf, we are seen in Christ. There are two conditions and two destinations because of how God sees us.Through His prophet Isaiah, God makes the glorious promise of changing our lives so He sees us in Christ, not in our sin. These images express how we can forgive our sin and give us a new standing with Him. He sees in our sin but can see us in the forgiveness of our sin.God talks of reasoning with Him. If we could see eternity and Heaven, everyone would want to do what it takes to go there. God says I can change you. Look at the nations of Judah that have been destroyed by immorality, idolatry, and other forms of sin. Doesn't it make sense to trust in me, who has protected you in the past and will in the future?God calls us to look around and see when one is truly a believer in Christ, they will not be destroyed by the ravages of sin. It is a reasonable thing to do when we grow in Christ, just as growing physically. When God calls us to sacrifice our lives to Him instead of being swept away by an ungodly culture, it is a reasonable thing to do. Satan has just made it seem weird to love Jesus and live for Him. Vance Havner said, If we were to live a normal Christian life so many in the church as not walking with the Lord it would appear abnormal, but God save us from just business as usual." Although it may appear abnormal, it is normal to live as a Christian.--- Dan Nelson
