Do You know why Jesus Came to Earth?Matt. 1:21" You shall call His name Jesus for He shall save His people from their sins. Many want to make Jesus into whatever they want Him to be, especially at this time of year. The Bible is abundantly clear. However, it is why Jesus came into the world and was born as a little baby. It is clear in this revelation to Joseph in a dream why Jesus would be born and why he should not put Mary away when it was discovered she was miraculous with a child. Jesus came to be our Saviour. But He is not your Saviour until you accept what He did for you through turning to Him in repentance and faith and trust in His perfect sacrifice for your sin. There is a unity of purpose throughout the Old Testament in the prophecies about Jesus and those who were important players in His coming to earth. He came to save us from sins through His perfect life being offered for our sinful ones. The prophecies proclaim Jesus came to save us from our sins. John the Baptist said He was the lamb of God to take away the sin of the world John 1:29. The angels said unto you is born in the city of David a Saviour who is Christ our Lord Luke 2:11. Mary said in declaring the favor of God choosing her to be the mother of one not born in any other way we have been born that her spirit rejoiced in God her Saviour Luke 1:47. Jesus said he came to give Himself as a ransom for many (referring to all who would trust Him as Saviour) Matt 20:28. Peter said in I Peter 3: 24, Who is own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree that we are being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness. Paul said, “There is one God and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus who gave Himself a ransom for many I Tim 2:5-6 and that Christ came to save sinners of whom I am chief I Tim. 1:15. He also stated that the heart of the gospel is that Christ died for our sins I Cor. 15: 3. John said He is the propitiation for our sins and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world I John 2:2. This unified message is throughout Scripture. You can’t separate the little baby in a manager from what He came to do. You can’t substitute another holiday (whether religious or not) and another reason to observe the holidays while ignoring what Jesus came to do.We are sinners, and our sin leads to death. Our death leads to judgment on our sin. We are guilty as charged. But God rescued us by sending Jesus to be our Saviour. On the cross, His perfect life was given for our sinful one so that when we look to Him dying in our place and being judged for our sins, we are saved from sin’s penalty through faith and trust in Him as our Saviour. So that little baby coming is more than just a cute story. It is your lifeline God is throwing out to you, don’t turn it away, for it is the reason Jesus came: To save us from our sin.--- Dan Nelson
