TIME OUT: “SHOW ME THY GLORY” In Exodus 33 Moses is concerned about the way in which the Lord will have him lead the Israelites. As the Lord assures Moses that His presence would remain with the people, Moses completely changes the subject by making one of the most peculiar remarks in the Bible: “I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.” (Exo. 33:18) What? Where did THAT come from? At this point, one might expect the Lord to thump Moses on the head and say, “Pay attention, boy! Sit up straight! Now, tell me what we were talking about!” But, no, the Lord grants Moses his request by hiding him in the clift of the rock and allowing Moses to see his glory as He passed by. Although it comes from a strange incident, the lesson should be obvious: God will take as much time out as needed, if someone is interested in HIS GLORY.
