SMALL CHURCHES
When the big church guys make snarky remarks about small churches, they usually share one or more of the following traits:
(1) They've never actually started a church themselves, and especially not in the Bible belt where everyone has been "saved and baptized" eight times. They are hirelings who pastor churches that other people built, and many of them will not remain in that position for even five years.
(2) They are cowards who are afraid to embrace and preach truth, so they try to tear down others who do preach truth.
(3) They are "evangelists" who have failed at pastoring their own churches, so they run up and down the country telling the rest of us "how it's done," while being secretly jealous of anyone who doesn't quit like they did.
(4) They are spiritual babies who still buy-in to the notion that "gain is godliness," being ignorant of the fact that all through the Bible and all throughout history, truth has always been in the minority and honor has always belonged to those who embrace and publish unpopular truth while being mocked, maligned, and sometimes persecuted for doing so. The bigger the Bible, the smaller the church. Some still don't get it.
(5) They are religious administrators, not preachers, and they don't know and appreciate sound Bible doctrine. Learning, knowing, and standing and fighting for Bible truth is not something that they were taught in "Bible school," so they view it as an enemy. Some were actually taught "Don't study the Bible; just win souls!" Naturally, they will oppose any Bible-believing preacher that they encounter.
There are other reasons, but that's five common ones. If you pastor a small church and stand for God's truth, IGNORE SUCH PEOPLE and keep preaching and publishing. Don't stop doing your job just because they never started doing theirs.
