▪️The maned wolf (scientific name: Chrysocyon brachyurus), is a species of canid endemic to South America. Its markings resemble those of a fox, but it is neither a fox nor a wolf. It is the only species in the genus Chrysocyon and probably the closest living species is the bush dog (Speothos venaticus). It occurs in savannas and open areas in central Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and Bolivia, being a typical animal of the Cerrado.
▪️ They have excellent smell and hearing. The very long ears amplify sounds and help locate prey. Puppies are born with black fur and when they grow up they become lighter, like the parents. Maned wolves can live 12 to 15 years.
▪️The maned wolf is an omnivorous animal, as it consumes a wide variety of animals and fruits. It feeds on small mammals such as skunks and rodents, as well as birds, lizards, snakes and insects.
▪️ He likes a little fruit whose tree was named lobeira because of his preference. After eating the wolffruit it helps to spread its seeds, as it eliminates them through its feces.
