Heart Problems need heart fixing.Jer. 33:33 " But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel. After those days saith the Lord, I will put my law in these inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people." After Judah came back from captivity, we have this promise which leads us to our present day. They needed a regulator which would keep them from going astray. Sinful things and idolatry had compromised them. Now God is saying I will fix your desires and affections to love me and my word and be obedient to it.Mankind’s problem is a heart problem. Jesus said out of the heart proceeds evil things Mk 7:20-23. Proverbs 4:23 says out of it comes the issues of life. People do evil, wicked things not because they are good people gone astray but because they love sin and will keep doing them until they have heart surgery.This heart surgery is where God comes in and rescues us from sinful destruction. That is exactly what salvation is all about. It is God saving us from total destruction and torment in Hell. It is God keeping us from sin destroying our lives. Who doesn’t need to be rescued? When someone is rescued from a car wreck, the victims are grateful. God is willing to do that today and will do that when we allow Him to do so. But Satan has blinded men’s minds lest they believe in the glorious light of the gospel II Cor. 4:2-4. What is best for them becomes the furthest thing from their minds.When God fixes our hearts, we will learn to love the things of God: His Word, His Church, His people, and His way of living. A voice will tell us, “Here is the way; walk in it.” And it will be the best thing we can have in this life: Our lives controlled by the creator of the universe through the sacrifice of Christ for our sins and His planting His Holy Spirit in our inward parts to love all of these things so we will do right and live right.
