4 Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; 5 love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs;--- 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 GNTPaul says that love “is not irritable.” Sometimes we’re irritated or angered by others, and we don’t know why. Not all irritability stems from sinful or selfish motives, although the irritable treatment of others surely is wrong. Much irritability comes from a love of perfection. A desire to run things perfectly can erupt into anger at events or people who get in the way or ruin that desire. Those who are easily irritated need to remember that perfection exists only in God. We need to love him and our fellow Christians, not the visions we have for perfection here on earth.--- Life Application Study Bible notes PRAYERDear Father God,Thank you for Your perfect love that never fails.Grant me a loving heart for others.Convict me when my love is self-seeking, easily angered or keeps a record of wrongs.I choose to submit myself to Holy Spirit to do the work in me.Grow and nurture the love of Christ in me.
