37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as[a] the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’--- John 7:37-38Jesus used the term “living water” in 4:10 to indicate eternal life. Here he uses the term to refer to the Holy Spirit. The two go together: Wherever the Holy Spirit is accepted, he brings eternal life. Jesus teaches more about Holy Spirit in chapters 14-16. The Holy Spirit empowered Jesus’ followers at Pentecost (Acts 2) and has since been available to all who believe in Jesus as Savior.--- Life Application Study Bible notesPRAYERDear Heavenly Father,I come thirsty because my heart is dry from self-righteousness, a critical spirit and lack of fellowship with You.I ask You to bring relief and healing for my thirsty heart for You. You are the living water that satisfies the thirsty soul.Refresh me with the promises of Jesus and restore me with Your spirit.I praise You for Your generous grace that Your water is never depleted but continuously overflows.Pour out the copious healing water on me.In Jesus name,Amen
