On this date in 1960, USS Constellation (CVA 64) - seen here four years later off Pearl Harbor - was launched. Yesterday, Secretary of the Navy Kenneth J. Braithwaite announced USS Constellation (FFG 62) as the name for the first of the new guided-missile frigate class in honor of the first U.S. Navy ships authorized by Congress in 1794 - six heavy frigates:
