I read this story many, many years ago and thought, oh, that marvelous Grace of God seen through the eyes of a small child.One rainy afternoon, a father was driving along one of the main streets of his hometown taking those extra precautions necessary because the roads were wet and slick. His young daughter was riding along with him securely buckled in her car seat.Following 20 minutes of silence, suddenly, the little girl spoke up, "Daddy, I've been thinking about something."This announcement usually meant she had been pondering some fact for a while and was now ready to expound all that her young six-year-old mind had discovered, and her father was eager to hear."What are you thinking about Honey?" the father asked."The rain!" she began, "is like sin, and the windshield wipers are like God wiping our sins away."After the chill bumps raced up and down his back, he responded, "That's really good Baby."His curiosity got the best of him, and he wondered how far this little girl would take these thoughts.He asked her, "But do you notice how the rain keeps on coming? What does that tell you?"The little girl didn't hesitate one moment with her answer. "Well, sometimes we still sin just like the rain that keeps coming down, but God will always forgive us when we ask Him. Then like those wipers, He cleans us up so we can see Him better."The Dad was speechless!You know friends, I don't think I'll ever be able to turn my wipers on again without remembering that little girl and that great Truth that God is faithful to forgive and cleanse us when we confess our sins.
