USS New Jersey BB-62 protecting the fleet:One of the primary purposes of the Iowa-class, as built, was to help protect the fleets fast aircraft carriers. She continued in this role for most of her career, as you can see here she is steaming with the carrier Coral Sea (CVA-43) during her Vietnam commission.
