Some of our incredible vets and heroes have surprised our Giant Killer members, most especially this humble hero & Korean War vet Army Lieutenant Sorrell Booke. Sorrell Booke was born on January 4, 1930, in Buffalo New York. After high school, Booke attended Columbia University, moving to Yale University to receive his master's degree. During that time he became fluent in five languages, including Japanese and Russian. Booke's college education was briefly interrupted by his enlistment in the U.S. Army during the Korean war, where Lieutenant Booke served as a counterintelligence officer. His linguistic skills were put to good during the war. Like most who engaged in such work, his actual efforts during the Korean War remain hard to discern specifically. Generally, however, counterintelligence efforts included debriefing returned and escaped American prisoners of war, observing terrain favorable to enemy and allied movements, and keeping tabs on enemy intelligence efforts in Korea and Japan. In 1960, after the military Booke made his way to Hollywood, taking on several roles in film, including a roles in hit show MASH and Dukes of Hazard as Boss Hogg.Like many who served, Booke remained humble about his activities during the war, to the point that many noted astonishment of his 007-like efforts after he passed away. A humble, jovial, intelligent man, Booke reminds us all of the heroes serving our nation. The Giant Killer book & page honors these incredible war heroes making sure their stories of valor and sacrifice are never forgotten. The book which features the incredible life of the smallest soldier, Green Beret Captain Richard Flaherty (101st Airborne & 3rd SF Group 46th Co.) and several of the other heroes featured on this page is available on Amazon & Walmart. God Bless our Vets!
