An eleven day siege that began on August 21, 1992 was held between Randy Weaver, his immediate family, Weaver family friend Kevin Harris, and a handful of government agencies. After Weaver failed to appear in court for firearms charges due to a mishandling of his court date being rescheduled, government agents showed up to his home which ignited a shootout between the two parties. Randy’s wife was murdered by an FBI sniper, his 14 year old son was murdered, and his dog was killed. One US Deputy Marshall was killed. Upon further investigation, all charges against Weaver and Harris were dropped. They proceeded to file lawsuits against the government for their actions which reached a $3.1 million dollar settlement. #rememberrubyridge
