On July 25, 2008, Claudia Faye Wadlington and Riley Jane Lawrence were crossing a street with Claudia's mother when they were all hit by a car traveling about 70 miles per hour. The driver, Keneille Finch, was fleeing the police when he ran a red light and struck the woman and girls, killing 4-year-old Riley and 5-year old Claudia.
