On July 30, 2015, James A. Flannery was out making a delivery when he was robbed and killed by three youths. The 59-year-old grandfather of four was working for a pizza chain after being laid off several months earlier. Sir Jeffrey Carroll, who was turning 18 that day, put in an order to be delivered to a vacant house. Jalen Hughes, who was 13, removed the "For Sale" sign from the front lawn, and 20-year-old Latrell Richey shot James in the back as he tried to get away.
