On July 29, 2021, Steven Wayne Butler went missing. Steven was coming home from mowing a neighbor's lawn when his father lost contact with him; his body was found in a ditch the next day. Authorities believe that a man named Daryl Vandyke killed Steven by repeatedly striking the 14-year-old with a sharp garden tool, and then sexually abused his corpse. Steven left behind his father and two younger siblings.
