Nothing Passive About it
Ephesians 6:13 (NIV®)
Put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
What comes to your mind when you think of standing? Boredom? Waiting? Wasted time? I think we’ve imagined that standing doesn’t require much effort, but that’s not true when we’re talking about standing for the Lord. Standing for Him requires putting on every piece of spiritual armor that God provides, then resisting the evil the enemy throws our way. We stand for truth. We stand for righteousness. We stand for holiness and purity. We stand against evil. We stand against anything that threatens our families or the Church. We stand at home. We stand in the workplace. We stand in the classroom. We stand in the community. None of those are passive responses in easy environments. We have to not only hold the ground we’re standing on now but look ahead for opportunities to take new ground. Do not think of standing for the Lord as a passive activity. Put on your spiritual armor. Then stand—and keep standing.
THINK ABOUT IT
Proactive spiritual discipline, perseverance, and endurance will be necessary in maintaining your momentum toward the things of God.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, You have provided all I need to be prepared to stand and keep standing in the face of every spiritual challenge. Help me to be intentionally and consistently suited up in all the protective covering You have provided. I will stand, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Blessings,
