On this day: 50 years ago, Col. Phil "Hands" Handley, flying an F-4E, recorded the world's fastest-speed air-to-air gun kill (June 2, 1972). Flying near Hanoi, Handley shot down a NVAF MiG-19 using F-4E's internal 20mm cannon while doing Mach 1.2.
