Roundup is strongly linked to cancer, so you don’t want that in your food! How does Roundup end up in our food?We don’t know for sure how Roundup ended up in these, but we do know this:Roundup is often sprayed on wheat, sugar, and oats that aren’t organic. These are some of the main ingredients in Little Debbie snack cakes. Synthetic pesticides like Roundup are prohibited on organic farms, and this is one of the biggest reasons why it’s important to choose organic foods. Some organic crops get contaminated with pesticides used on nearby conventional crops, but when organic food is tested it generally comes up with far fewer pesticide residues. Organic products also aren’t allowed to contain TBHQ, artificial colors, artificial flavors, and many synthetic food additives that are risky to our health. In 2016, an independent laboratory tested Little Debbie’s Oatmeal Creme Pies for residues of the weed killer glyphosate (aka Roundup) and found 264.28ppb of glyphosate. This is especially concerning because this is a product often consumed by children. Yet the FDA did nothing about it and we have no idea if Little Debbie has cleaned up her act since then… but we can only guess based on the ingredients in their products that health is not a priority when making Little Debbie products.
