🚨U.S. Justice Department Announces Charges Against 21 People In $150M COVID-19 Related Fraud🚨
🔹The DOJ has announced that 21 people have been charged in the past nine days as part of a nationwide enforcement push to root out those who exploit the pandemic through health care fraud schemes.
🔹The cases resulted in about $150 million in alleged false billings & theft from federal pandemic assistance programs. In connection with the enforcement action, the DOJ seized over $8 million in cash & other fraud proceeds.
🔹Several cases involve defendants who offered COVID-19 testing to get patients to provide their personal identifying information & a saliva or blood sample. The defendants then allegedly used that information & samples to submit fraudulent claims to Medicare for medically unnecessary & far more expensive tests or services.
